Pet of the Week: Higgins

Higgins is two year old Border Collie/Shepherd mix looking for his fur-ever home!

Hello, my name is Higgins! I am a Border Collie/Shepherd mix, and a little over two years old. I was rescued from a hoarding case in Kentucky by Animal Rescue Corps, with 43 other surviving dogs. Our owner became sick, and that was when we were discovered; we were living in horrendous conditions. Since being at Helping Paws, I have gained at least 10lbs; I now weigh over 50lbs! I came in very shy and acclimating to shelter life was a big change for me. The staff and volunteers gave me time to settle in; I had a collar on for the first time, got used to walking on a leash, and heard lots of new sounds. I can be timid when meeting new people but I have come a long way! I am a happy and friendly boy. I am always super excited to go on my walks and I have new people walking me every week. I'm very playful, too. While I do enjoy playing with my hooman friends, playing with my doggy friends is my favorite!! I love to run in the yard with them. I am also super into treats. I have trained the new hoomans I meet to always give me a treat. I have trained them very well. If you are looking for a new best friend, I'm your boy! I may take a little extra patience, but I promise I am worth it. Call HP to meet me.
